Host a Foreign Exchange Student from Korea

Program Dates: July 24-29, 2022

American Councils for International Education is looking for individuals and families in the Washington, DC area interested in hosting high school exchange students from Korea for 5 nights this summer. The students are defectors from North Korea whose journey has landed them in South Korea. They are learning English as part of the English Access program funded by the US Embassy in Seoul, and will come on a 10-day study tour to the US this summer, where they will learn about life in America and practice their English.

American Councils is seeking host families in the DC area, preferably with access to public transportation. Daily programming will take place near Farragut North metro. They will leave their DC homes in the morning and return in the evening after 4-5 pm. Hosts must be able to provide their guest(s) with a safe and nurturing environment; a bed to sleep on (no sofas or futons); and meals and snacks. All students have medical insurance and are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
