Inspired by Edo National Student Art Competition

Submission Deadline: May 15, 2024

Edo was a period of Japanese history (1603-1868) when artists innovated techniques to bring all of nature to striking life. Teachers and students interested in this period are encouraged to explore the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art’s free online K-12 curriculum resources – Investigating Japan’s Edo Avant Garde. All students grades 1-12 who create art inspired by a lesson in this curriculum are invited to submit their best work online. Students can create the art in class, as a club activity, with their friends, or on their own. The plan is to make “Inspired by Edo” an annual competition.
