U.S. Youth Ambassadors Program

Sponsored by the US State Department and administered by World Learning, the Youth Ambassadors Program provides full scholarships to high school students and adult mentors to take part in one of five, 3-week exchange programs to countries in Central and South America. In 2018 the exchanges will be to Argentina & Chile; Brazil; Dominican Republic; Ecuador; Paraguay & Uruguay. The program aims to develop a cadre of young Americans with a strong sense of civic responsibility, commitment to their communities, awareness of current global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills. Programs focus on civic education, leadership, and community service, with various subthemes such as social justice, environmental protection, entrepreneurship, and multiculturalism. Applicants must be US citizens, 15-17 years old at the time of the exchange, and with a high school graduation year of 2019 or later. Intermediate level Spanish is required for all exchanges, except to Brazil. World Learning is also recruiting adult mentors for these exchanges.
